The fact that a kid who came from nothing became a best selling author, veteran and speaker are astounding. Just one of these alone is very impressive. However, this should be a lesson to all people who have been doubting themselves, you need to have confidence in yourself or no one will. That statement is the sentence that could describe his life and his accomplishments.

How successful the author turned out to be was very impressive. But he turned out this way because his mother sent him to military school. She made that decision because she knew that the author needed a change of scenery. Not only the scenery but different friends that wouldn't get him locked up or addicted to drugs. I think that his life could have been The Other Wes Moores if this didn't happen.

The way that this book has ended truly shocked me. All of the hardship and grief that The Other Wes Moore is going through in jail. Also, the fact that he got a life sentence without parole is ridiculous. This makes me so mad inside because he was not the one that pulled the trigger. IF anything he should have gotten parole after 10 years. That is the humane thing to do, he has kids for god sakes.

Now, going back to the author Wes Moore he is not doing so well. He is struggling to find a place and, "crew" to fit in with. He is becoming too poor for his Riverdale friends and too rich for his crew. This is taking a toll on him, especially when his uncle invited all friends to play some baseball. Let's just say, it did not end well. There were three fights in a very short time.

Now that TOWN failed out of his school his mother was forced to send him to military school. Which he hated, he wanted nothing more than to leave and go home. You would think that other people would try to stop him from leaving or talk him out of it. However, his squad leader was the one that mapped out the forest and showed him which trains to take to get him home. This is astonishing.

Now that TOWN is in the drug game his brother is not happy. His brother warned him to stay out of it, he saw the repercussions but decided that money was more important than human life. This made his brother beat him up to try and change his mind. After his brother was done with the beating he didn't check up on him anymore. I predict conflict where Tony has to bail Wes out of something.

Now that the author has moved in with his grandparents and goes to a private school. It seems good, but it is really not. He is starting to run around with the, " street kids" which is having an effect on him. Living in the Bronx is taking a toll on him, and his friend Justin. I predict that something bad will happen to Justin or the other Wes Moore on the way home.

We are finally learning about how the author went through some struggles, his father died and just knowing, that the hospital could have done something to save his life is hard. Not only that but the way the other Wes Moore is growing up is scary. He has to live knowing that his older brother has been shot, and is a full on drug dealer. But in Wes's eyes his brother is his hero, this could get him in some trouble.

When I first started reading this book I was astonished on how well the author described both lives. In one life the author was a combat veteran and well respected. On the other hand, the other Wes Moore was facing life in prison. Just knowing and learning their different lives and how they started is making this book out to be a keeper.
