since I'm now finished with this, I understand the similarities with most or all of the "kill the big monster" books. many books like this are very exciting, but if you read too much of 1 type of book, you'll get bored. anyway, all these books have 1 similarity: the main character always wins impossibly, due to some external reason, or due to pure luck. I hope that the next book of this type breaks the mold.

unfortunately, due to the school closure, i have not gotten any new books. but this book reminds me of the heroes of olympus book 4, when they were fighting the main antagonist of the book, clytius. they both walked into a chamber of "secrets" and both have to fight some sort of monster/bad guy. what's different is that in this story harry is 12 while the characters in the house of hades are around 16.
