Patsy is a dynamic character because before the book she could not read she had a limp, and she stammered a lot. Now that she discovered education she has less of a problem with all of her flaws. She’s more accepting of herself.

The purpose of this book is to inform others about slavery. The author appeals to connection. I believe this could be for African Americans, kids and adults. That have values on how beautiful, powerful, and intelligent they are. For youngsters to show how strong the ancestors were, and where they came from. For adults to remind them of it.
