This book hits the sweet balance for the armchair theoretical physicist. If you have a technical background such as engineering where you wanted to dig a little deeper into mathematics of quantum mechanics, but, know your limits and find an actual quantum mechanics text book over your head, this book is for you. I also recommend the accompanying lectures on you tube.

The most approachable book on the subject. The book starts with background and refreshers for all of the prerequisite and underlying mathematics used in quantum mechanics. This is typically omitted in most courses.
