I'm really not sure why, but I wasn't expecting this book to get so deeply theological so quickly. In hindsight it makes perfect sense. Our uncertainty in relation to suffering stems from confusion about the nature of God and His creation, so of course, any discussion of the problem of pain is going to have to be a discussion about the nature of God.
