بالطبع، لذلك يقول سعيد بوضوح في كتابه أن على المثقف أن يكون جسور وشجاع وغير قابل للإحتواء من السلطة ، ويقول أيضاً أن لهذا الدور تبعاته القاسبة من العزلة والنبذ وأزيد أنا القتل والنفي والإعتقال
