This book reminds me of an old great-uncle. He had a prickly day-old beard, was gushingly friendly but socially inappropriate, and reacted to the weirdest things; he panicked when a balloon popped. I didn't think much of him until i found out that he'd escaped Auschwitz, where he lost his wife and son, before making it to Australia and running a factory. Like this book- easy to underestimate but contains much wisdom.
