Houston is not coming across as an effective leader. Did he realize that his troops needed growth or was he just to afraid to commit?
Orders not followed. Orders that were followed, but denied. Granting clemency to deserters only to have them flee again.
That being said, I've wondered why we have a road in Houston named Yellowstone.
Now I want to know if James Kuykendahl pass the namesake for the streer and why

I live near Kuykendahl Road. So when I see James K. (a private who appears to be diarist) I wonder if the road is name for him.
Joseph K. a recent addition to the story, who has a servant who sent a fairy over the Brazos River that have Santa Anna access... Can't imagine him being the namesake... We shall see.
Probably none of the above.

Interesting point Rusk, the Secretary of War, joined Houston's army as an aide de campe.
As Sec. Of War, he had the power to remove Houston of his position if he do chose. Instead he supported Houston.

First chapter was a little abrupt. It covered a fair amount in a short period and shimmed over a lot of facts. Nothing blatantly wrong, but some implications that weren't 100% accurate.
Hopefully it's just because he is laying the foundation and glossing over background details before going into more detail on the San Jacinto campaign.
I think it is.
