It reminds me a lot of my family. I come from simple, country people and so many of the stories seem to hit home. I also seem to have vague memories of coming across many of the types of characters she portrays in her stories at one time or another. I love the darkness. She really captures the notes of human behavior so wonderfully. I love how her characters feel and breathe on the page. I can feel their essence quite profoundly. She is very vivid in her descriptions.
