Do you like it? I read it for Halloween and didn’t find it scary at all!

I’m really enjoying it so far! But, I didn’t start reading the book looking for a scary story - I went into it expecting a thriller, which it seems to pull off extremely well. I read a few of SJ’s short stories and this is right in line with those in terms of feeling.

In the end, I just find the style of her writing is something to be admired, so-much-so that I end up re-reading paragraphs simply because the phrasing or punctuation choices are interesting haha.

I’ll read The Haunting of Hill House soon, too; many people say it’s a ‘perfect ghost story’, so maybe that’s a better place to start if you’re looking for a scare!
