Its so cool the way Marina's poetry changes after her time with the Ionians. I hadn't even thought about it until I seen your update. Her poetry becomes really good towards the end of her time there. I don't know if you have got to her Cosmic Egg poem but it's really quite brilliant; and all her poetry afterwards, in Chimes of a lost cathedral, is likewise so.
Its such an interesting twist in Janet Fitch writing, definitely stands out from the rest of her work - most brilliantly I might add

Yes I agree, Janet Fitch is such an amazing writer, and I love how she transitions from a story-teller to a poetess. I found out about "The Revolution of Marina M" while I was reading "The Chimes of Lost Cathedral" so I had to see how was Marina as a young girl. I loved the chapters dedicated to the Ionians, I am sure there is a lot of symbolism there, yet I love how Marina's experiences and poetry portray her as a better Marina (despite her wild nature, impulsiveness and careless adventurous nature)
