Did they actually think instincts develop so rapidly that already lions could have a genetically ingrained fear of vehicles?
I realize this was the 70's and all the approved of science was down on the whole learning and teaching animals thing... but... really?
They knew it was a problem with man eaters at the time. Left alive, a man eater would teach its pride and cubs.

One interminable "humans are evil and destroying the environment and my unrealistically demanding and controlling idea of how to deal with this is the only possible good answer" speech later...

I kinda wish the wife or daughter had written a book. It seems like they're more bush-savvy and have more interesting adventures than the author.
Also... wasn't this about white lions at some point? They haven't been mentioned in awhile. Recently it's just been the driving adventures of the author's wife.

The lions being white should not have affected the Prime Directive in any way, shape or form. The only reason Elsa ever entered captivity was that Adamson shot her mother in self-defense, meaning the Directive had already been violated by necessity. These two were naturally born, wild cubs, living in a pride and should have been treated as such.
