Some of the essays end too abruptly. Don't be afraid to go into detail people! You're not going to convince me slasher villains are equal to superheroes in two pages, and I want to know more about the porn vs. horror dichotomy. All the essays raise good points, but some leave me wanting MORE.

The last section hardly involves any revealing analysis at all. Most of them are just summarizing the films and revealing the killers/twists. The only good ones I've read so far are on "Session 9" and "Saw."

The analysis of "Terror Train" was fabulous. It made me want to rewatch the film. Also, the essay on the gender roles of "Sleepaway camp" was great, but I wanted a bit more exploration. Lastly, Harley Jane Kozak's essay on the experience of filming "House on Sorority Row" is hilarious and my favorite personal essay out of the entire book.

There are still some irritating typos that should not have made it into a finished publication! Urgh! Otherwise, I'm really enjoying the essays dedicated to the favorable analysis of a particular film. I didn't understand the point of the essay based on "He Knows You're Alone." The author states that he likes the film, but spends the entire essay comparing it to "Halloween" and "When a Stranger Calls." Kinda useless

Someone did a really poor editing job on Dominic McDonagh's essay on the relevance of Theatre of Blood to the slasher genre. There are quite a few typos that should have been caught and corrected prior to publishing. Did McDonagh even read over his essay before submitting it? It has some great points, but the typos and spelling errors are distracting.

Interesting list of films from the 1930s that are precursors to the slasher film. I feel the need to locate and watch these films now.
