Not only have I not read any of the nominees for the Goodreads Choice Awards Best Fantasy book, I haven't even heard of any of them. Has anyone else read or heard of these books, or were they beamed down from the sci-fi planet? Honestly, some of the covers don't even look like they're fantasy.

Pretty sure they were beamed down from some strange, unknown world. I've never heard of any of them, either.

Well, I mean, I have heard of George R.R. Martin. But never read him. Haven't heard of the others.
The only book on ANY of these lists I've even heard of at all was The Silent Patient, and that only because I read an article about all the things the publisher did to help get it high in the rankings as a debut novel, because I was doing marketing research.
Yes, I have heard of Mr. Martin as well, just not that particular book. Ooo, I'm intrigued about the Silent Patient. How did they get it so high with a debut novel? Do tell (briefly if you can)...
