Is it blowing your mind yet?

OH MY GOSH! This book was brilliant, fantastic, amazing, incredible, DISTURBING, scary, I'm running out of words! I loved it! The unwinding scene made me shake, it made my stomach ache, it made my heart race. I hated Roland, but nobody deserves that kind of fate. How does an author write something like that scene? I think I'm going to have nightmares about that scene.

I am very glad that all of the main characters survived. You had told me that a 'kid' gets unwound, which had me worried about all three of the main characters. So needless to say I had anxiety throughout the entire book, thanks! Ha ha! The fact that Connor received Roland's arm was disturbing in a poetical sort of way. I am so glad that Lev finally came to terms with himself. Lev had me worried for a bit. I was seriously under the impression that he was going to clap; but he ends up saving Risa and Connor... YAY, Lev!!

The side story of Humphrey Dunfee was a nice touch, added a nice depth to the story. Which, I actually predicted that the admiral was Humphrey's Dad. The first 'bit by bit' was a big give away, but he suckered me in to thinking that the admiral was a sadistically crazed psychopath, obsessed with creating Franken-Humphrey, dang him.

My favorite character in the book was Hayden. He was hilarious. My favorite quote was "Hey," says Hayden, "I'm Switzerland, neutral as can be, and also good with chocolate." Hayden made me laugh. For a while I was afraid he was going to be the Unwind that we get to witness. Thank the good Lord that he didn't die. I would have been angry.

I would really like to know what happens next. Does Lev ever get to see them again? ... he had better. This is the best and most original book I have read in a long time. Kudos to Sushterman!

I am so glad you loved it. I was absolutely blown off my couch with this one. The Roland scene sent me through a spiral of emotional turmoil. I cannot believe how extraordinarily effective that scene came out. I despised Roland so deeply. Then I was near tears at what was happening to him and dehumanized he was in the eyes of the medical staff. Brutal.

It has been five days since I finished the book, and I still periodically think about that scene. It makes my heart sink in my chest. I think the worst part was when they started taking sections of the table away. *DEEP BREATH, THINK HAPPY THOUGHTS*
