This book connects to the real world through poverty. Many kids are unable to go to school, not because of luck or fortune but the real world situations, such as Adeline's life. She was blamed for her mother's death, and was always considered bad luck. It wasnt her fault, the real world situations were in play as well. This is why I think that the book "Chinese Cinderella," by Adeline Yen Mah, connects to the world.
