In this dystopian story, the main characters are Cassia, Xander, and Ky. The story is told from Cassia's perspective. In this world, everyone that belongs to a normal province gets to choose if they want to be matched to their "love". If they decide yes, then the ceremony began and you will be matched to a stranger in a different province. But then, Cassia gets matched to Xander, her BFF and also same province.

Since I think that Cassia is the kind of person that is willing to work hard to learn, if she lives in the world we live today, she would have been a really smart person. But because of the world/province, she lives in, she can't really study the things we study today like writing. When Ky showed her cursive, she practiced a lot of calligraphy on leaves and mud with sticks.
