Brief history of transatlantic shipping and then a history of each family. Cunard was interesting because they were loyalists during the revolution who were sent to Canada. Finally a history of steam-powered ships in the USA (riverboats) and England (coastline and across the sea to Ireland) where advances were centered in Glasglow. Neither side had a working transatlantic steamer yet though.
