Maybe it's because this is in German, but the description of Marie and Jeanne is making me cringe so HARD. Comparing the breasts of a 15 year old to light apples (whatever that is supposed to mean) and then having a 13 year old feel ashamed for not looking like a real woman yet? That is something younger me would habe internalised in 0.5 seconds.

I just can't get used to this writing style. The dialogues especially, they make this feel like fanfiction. I don't know, maybe I'm just not used to reading in German anymore.

Hi, history student here, currently grinding her teeth because Jeanne just absolutely dismissed the idea of her visions being real... I really hope her character isn't being pushed where I think it is being pushed.
Also hi, pagan witch here. I hate books that scoff at the idea of magic being real, especially since this is a fantasy book???

The whole of France did not abandon Jeanne??? It was mostly a political ploy to imprison and later kill her. Also not a big fan of another man sweeping in to save her from rape.
