I want to love this book. I want to appreciate the author's reading of his own work. Yet, I don't love it. It is deep and heavy and it breaks my heart. It is too close to home for me, a young teen's life experience and sexuality. It reminds me of what my child will be going through soon... and I would take on the hurt of the world to spare him the pain of growing into adulthood.
