This book doesn't contain vulgarly explicit scenes like A court of Mist and Fury but it's till New adult. New adult doesn't have to be explicit to be new adult. If the characters are 20 or older, there's language or edgy content reviewers should say it. But many won't because they are prostituting themselves to post dishonest reviews in exchange of free books. Or a publishing contract.

Outside booktube many people think YA is a silly genre. Marketing New adult as YA only shows why the traditional publishing industry's in trouble: They ignore what people need and want to read. That's the reason they scoop as low as sending a book with erotic content to the 11-13 YO libraries and book retailers.

For those of you who don't know this book is new adult because the main character is in her 20's and also there are multiple F bombs Plus cheating and alcohol.
it's almost as though some people thinks the YA label is a good thing. It's not. YA is getting less and less readers as most people are turning to ebooks and new adult, only they dont know that they're reading NA

Many GR reviewers are aftera publishing contract (crappy contract, they'll get more without an agent) or free books and are covering up that manybooks sold as YA books are in reality NEW ADULT. This one isn't sexual but it's full of F-bombs and the main character is 20. NOT YA.

Books and their categories or descriptions should be 100% transparent. This is New adult. No erotic content like in the case of A Court of Mist and Fury but language and MC is in her 20's. The bird and the sword (New adult) and Percy Jackson (MG) are both "Clean" Fantasy but the age of the MC tells us a lot as book buyers. Many booktubers receive books for free so they hide the erotic content of books from the big5

challenge to booktubers: Upload a video of yourself, reading aloud the sex scenes of ACOMAF aloud to a dozen of 11-13 YO girls, the recommended reading age. If you don't get into legal trouble I'll send you a bunch of free hardcovers/ betaread your book for free. free hardcovers and publishing contracts are what many people who insist into hiding the erotic content of books marketed toward CHILDREN are after, right?

Mishelving New adult books as YA isn't an honest mistake. Publishers have the goodreads choice awards in mind. In the goodreads feedback group they told me that's how editors select categories: based on shelving.
This book is New adult, it's not bad just mislabeled.
