Bluebeard & the White Buffalo: A Rangergirl Yarn by Tim Pratt - i'm wondering how classy it is to take a real Lakota Sioix sacred story (the white buffalo) and make it into a fun western about white people in which the only Native Americans are evil and die. also not superheroes

The Pentacostal Home for Flying Children by Will Clarke - absolutely delightful!!!!

22. The Zeppelin Pulps by Jess Nevins - it's not superheroes, but it's about comics, at least. slightly interesting

23. Wild Cards: Prologue & Interludes by George R R Martin - just as fascinating as i hoped it'd be! i love authors that can evoke a completely different voice within just a couple sentences

24. Wild Cards: Just Cause by Carrie Vaughn - kind of boring. hard to believe it's one of Wild Cards's best

19. The Jackdaw's Last Case by Paul Di Filippo - absolutely loved it!!!!!

The Biggest by James Patrick Kelly - halfway through i had a feeling that this didn't have a happy ending, so i flipped to the last page and i was right. i really really don't like sad stories so i didn't finish this one. but it was beautifully well written - a good sad story, if you do like them

17. The Death Trap of Dr. Nefario by Benjamin Rosenbaum - good but, and i realize this is a pretty niche complaint, i've read this exact premise (superheros in therapy, specifically Robin) in AT LEAST two dozen tumblr posts so it didn't really blow my mind 😂

18. Man Oh Man - It's Manna Man by George Singleton - deeply wonderful. maybe, like, a LITTLE corny for some people but definitely one of my favorites

12. Clash of Titans (A New York Romance) by Kurt Busiek- amazingggggg!! and no wonder, with Kurt Busiek's bibliography. i was already planning on checking out Astro City, but now i'm really excited for it!

13. The Super Man & the Bugout by Cory Doctorow- very cute and fun!!

14. Grandma by Carol Emshwiller- very sweet. i liked it a lot

10. The Night Chicago Died by James Louder - completely stellar!!

11. Novaheads by Ernest Hogan - interesting world!! but just as i was getting into it, it ended. also very little even arguably superhero content. disappointing on its own but i'm definitely reading more from this author

4. They Fight Crime! by Leah Bobet- not sure what this was going for. pretty forgettable

5. The Rememberer by J Robert Lennon - i really liked this! also not what i would call a superhero story but it had kind of a superhero-y feel

6. The Nuckelavee: A Hellboy Story by Christopher Golden & Mike Mignola - mildly interesting but extremely not a superhero story (even if Hellboy is usually a superhero?)
