The Guardian called this a highly speculative history play full of wit and rage. The author has reimagined Bassano to fit her own agenda (Bassano was not a woman of color) and makes her a flawless symbol for women's oppression. Some of it was broad comedy, but explained for you. Other parts were imaginative and moving. While I enjoyed it, it got a bit heavy-handed. It probably plays well in performance.

I agree with Variety's review of this play. The Guardian called this a speculative history full of wit and rage. Actress Fiona Shaw said this was Saturday Night Live meets William Shakespeare. First, I imagine this is fun to see in performance. I watched the trailer for it and the music or dancing is high energy and obviously doesn't translate to the written page.
