You'd be amazed how good the folks on Help!! What's the Name of that Book? are at finding titles from a few scraps of clues, if it's an M/M book.

Perhaps one of you know this one?

m-m (at least I think so?) fantasy (series/split up into several novels?) in a world with asian/chinese touch and some really big ocean to the east and a magical created continent, main character has a magical ability (as far as I remember to paint maps and they become reality), there was something with his sister and (grand?)father, a big tower in a city, and a showdown in the city with a river going through it and involving the bridges...
