Jane Austen novels are like an older version of the Desperate or Real Housewives franchise. Seriously, why do people read this shit anymore?

Haha! I've only read about 50 pages so far. From these few pages I've surmised the following: the formality is really irritating; the characters need jobs; and they are all extremely superficial. If read with a comment from a friend in mind, I think it can be saved--a bit: maybe all the snark is supposed to actually be mockery. But I must agree with you also; these characters are not exemplary humans. Now, how'd I guess that you'd say what you said? Haha!
