Chapter 2 has so many delicious details! I officially now want to live at Moonacre Manor.

Reading exactly seven years after my first read in July 2019! And this time reading with a group of lovely women.

I love this section about how the townspeople and children brought the ruined monastery on Paradise Hill back to life with their gifts and beauty. I should also like to join Maria and Sir Benjamin for their roast beef-Yorkshire pudding-gravy-roast potato-greens-horseradish sauce-apple tart dinner.

"But they didn't have only sausages for breakfast. Digweed brought in as well a huge home-cured ham, brown boiled eggs, coffee, tea, new-baked bread, honey, cream with a thick yellow crust on the top of it, freshly churned butter, and milk so new that it was still warm and frothing."-43-44

I love this description so much. It takes simple food items and makes it sound like a delicious, delightful, memorable feast.
