The first chapter made connections between Adam and Jesus. Jesus took on the curses given to Adam after Eve ate from the forbidden tree. Overall, the main theme was God setting rules not to hinder our freedom, but to protect us. Even after Adam and Eve disobeyed him, God sent Jesus to protect us.
