I think Cassia and her mother have some conflict between each other referring to this quote "...I know she can't stay mad at me.Not on the night of my Match Banquet,when she has been reminded of how quickly i'm growing up"(21)so that the Match Banquet symbolizes growing up and that Cassia might have done something unacceptable.
