Not quite sure why I want to keep reading this book. Maybe it's depictions of lives that are grossly helpless makes my life more bearable. Sometimes his word crafting takes my breath away, but mostly I'm intrigued by what next might befall his characters in the quagmire of communal Cloudstreet.

Gripping ... breakless truck hurtling towards an oncoming train.....humans glowing for days....still trying to draw meaning from it.
