This book is a parallel setting because there are three main characters that describe what is happening in their life at the same time. It switches chapter to chapter with a different narrator. Ally, Bree, and Jack are the three kids that tell their stories separately, but at the end of the book they all meet and come together.

Two minor characters are Ally’s parents. Ally, one of the main characters, moved to “the middle of nowhere” and that change ended up being a life changing thing for her. Her parents made the decision in the first place to have their family move, so without them she wouldn’t have made some of the best friends that she has now. They are good influences for Ally and help her with all their wisdom in many ways.
