In the hunger games a reoccurring archetypal symbol is the mockingbird, the mocking bird is symbolizing how Katniss is free and is a leader to fight for others freedom, and well being.

The tone in this book can often times be sarcastic and blunt as it comes from Katniss Everdeen the main characters perspective. The tone can also be very serious when Katniss has to do training and prepare for the quarter quell after previously winning the hunger games meaning she participates in another hunger games.
