I love “Sundara” for its mixture of music, Catholic and Protestant aesthetics, crucifixion as beauty, and the simple beauty of Shaker art. I like how Sartwell looks at Hinduism’s sheer profuseness and Hindu mysticism’s connection of pleasure and holiness in a monistic fashion.
