So then Sonny starts to realize that maybe basketball is not the only love he has anymore. There is this girl that he meets that he once knew and he wants her because between her and basketball his heart is falling apart so he tries to go for her so he could be the person he once was.

Sonny becomes uncomfortable as he finds himself in a study of the sports media because his University is moving up in the standings with his team not losing. He begins to have flashbacks of his bad memories of basketball and this makes him feel frighten and sick so he starts to not play good basketball.

Sonny gets a basketball scholarship to university by having the most points scored in high school than any other player in state history. I used context clues from the story to understand that Sonny is a overachiever that sets many goals for himself and never comes up short, which makes him a great athlete on the court.

Robert Lee made says he makes a 100 free throws in a row before he leaves the gym everyday and Snell does not believe him because he does not think he is capable of doing that. But Robert’s proof that he does this is Sonny and both of them are on basketball scholarships.
