The tone of this book is more serious than anything. I know this because most of the book is pure action, without a lot of commentary. Throughout the book, there are some scene were I guess it could be considered funny, but for the most part it give the reader a serious vibe, which I think is good for the action.

A symbol that keeps appearing in the Alex Rider series including Crocodile Tears is Rain. Whenever Alex has to make a decision that in terms hurts him, or a does something bad in order to take down the villain, it usually ends with it raining. I think this symbolizes sadness and grievance, to show to the reader how Alex Rider feels in that moment.
