John Romita Jr. covers: Superman #38, 2015 (left), Kick-Ass 2 #7, 2012 (right)
Thoughts:
(1) I knew I'd seen that cover before! I wonder if it's an homage if you copy yourself?
(2) I put Geoff Johns in the same category as Neil Gaiman. They've never knocked my socks off, but they're both reliably very good and excel at traditional things.

A number of things:
(1) Geoff Johns gets Superman right! He's an aspirational hero: men want to be him and [straight] women want to be with him, he's a role model and people trust him. Mild-mannered does not mean wimpy or luckless!
(2) Hey, it's Mr. Oz! (not the wizard or the health guru)
(3) I just passed 1700 friends. Thanks for being a friend!

A few things:
(1) This book has no volume number. I assume DC left it out because they felt this would be something special, a classic even, and wouldn’t want it tainted with the stigma of it being the sixth in a line of stinkers.
(2) I find it quaint that Romita’s idea of depicting a younger Superman is to have him wear a backwards baseball cap.

(left to right) Variant covers by John Romita Sr., Ethan van Sciver, John Romita Jr. and Amanda Conner
Thoughts:
(1) This is the only Superman book I've been looking forward to. Still, however good it may be, it can't possibly make up for all the dreck I've endured up to this point.
(2) Give me John Romita Sr. over John Romita Jr. any day.
