I'm liking the prose so far. I expected more "interview" style writing, but Poulsen is keeping the narrative grounded in the "current moment." A good choice, I think!

Things are definitely heating up for Max, and it feels as if we are approaching the moments outlined in the prologue at quite a rapid clip. This whole story has been gripping, with development after development pouring out of it. Might have to look into finding more of Poulsen's writing!

Max has now fumbled away seemingly every chance he had at legitimate employment. It's always interesting to me to see how crime seems to keep tugging at folks who get involved in it, never allowing them to escape. The final nail in the coffin, it seems, is widespread reluctance to hire ex-convicts. The results are undeniable: if the only gainful employment left is crime, that is what ex-cons must choose.

Poulsen maintains a brisk pace, never resting for too long in each sub-chapter of Max's story. It's fascinating so far, and I feel that while Poulsen is still establishing background, it's been fascinating so far. The pieces all feel logically intertwined so as to be easy to follow. I'm eager to hear more of the manic genius of Max Vision.
