Its a story of a young white girl growing up in 1963 Mississippi who runs away from her grandmother and looks for her mothers in Nashville. Along the way she’s found by a kind black woman with a secret and is held captive by the woman’s abusive husband. Written from the young girls perspective it’s raw and sweet and can teach us about learning and love.
