I'm starting to learn more about digital photography... The book suggests that I start by using every setting and determining what I like best. Only, as I start I realize that some settings have menus and others don't... but I don't really know what each means... so, I've started, but I still have a long way to go to do the first activity. You seem to have to have a human guide rather than just a book. Oh well.
