"Silver Age" (c. 1956-1970) style variant covers
Thoughts:
(1) Jim Lee sure loves double-page spreads. Reminds me of "Batman: Hush."
(2) Scott Snyder does his trademark bookends: history lesson in the front, creepy epilogue at the back.
(3) Competence is kinda disorienting. Like stepping on land after being at sea with terrible books.

"Modern Age" (c. 1985-1993) style variant covers
A couple things:
(1) Superman says "damn" a lot. Not cool. He's the "big blue boy scout," even the D-word is too much.
(2) Chances are I'll finish this book soon and not get to post more updates. In which case, I've put the remaining era variant covers in the comments, if you're interested.

"Bronze Age" (c. 1970-1985) style variant covers
Two things:
(1) It's been a pretty slow read. Not that it's bad, it's the best thing I've read in a while, I've just not had time.
(2) Clark, Lois and Jimmy each have their own storyline and villain. A bit worrying, but I'm confident enough in Snyder that It'll all come together in the end.

"Golden Age" (c. 1938-1945) style variant covers
Observations from the bonus material:
(1) A lot of stuff got cut from Snyder's script. I feel his diminished quality of late is partly from not being edited as strictly as before.
(2) Lee's pencils are only tight where it matters. He obviously has confidence in his inker to fill in the gaps.

1930s-style variant covers
Thoughts:
(1) This coincided with Superman's 75th anniversary, so issues 1-6 have variant covers in homage of 8 different eras.
(2) I've not read a book above 2-stars since February. C'mon 3-stars!
(3) I have no idea where this fits in continuity. Jim Lee drew it, so naturally it took a year and a half to finish.
