Nate Crawford > Status Update

Could not finish this book. I've always wanted to read it, and its allocation as a local university's 'campus read' prompted me to pick it up, yet also made it feel prescribed, and prescribed because it met certain socio-cultural mandates. I found it humorless and mired in reductive dystopian tropes that the inspired addition of Caribbean folklore could not lift it out of. Given time I may look forward to reading some of Hopkinson's later work.
