I did not finish my book for February. I think the inciting incident in this book is how Old Nick has had Ma inside the room and then Ma gives birth to Jack. I think this because this is the main point about this book and without it there would definitely not be a story.

I think this story’s archetype is overcoming the monster and the quest. As Jack and Ma are inside the room they try to think of different ways to try to escape. That is what I feel is the quest of the book. And the overcoming the monster is how Ma and Jack try to get away from Old Nick and to never see his face again.

I can sort of make a book to self reference. Jack and Ma are stuck in a backyard shack. They havnt been outside of the shack/room. Jack has never seen a real animal like a dog, or a fish even. I have been sick for about a week and I have been inside all day. Just thinking about being inside and never experiencing so many simple things is so sad. Just being sick for a week makes me feel very greatful about my life.
