I think the jury is divided on the case because Tom is black because the jury take really long to make a decision so that would mean that they can't decide. If they all believed Atticus then they would make the descsion and it would be quick.

An old town that is run down and very hot. People moved slowly and people were reassured that they had nothing to fear except fear itself.
