Wow, all of these stories are way depressing. The last one had a decent ending.

Beautiful language. Poor Uncle E. "He was shut of love, the children of love, and the love of children. He saw only of heavens, skies, horizons, infinit, by night or day, let by Star, moon, or son, cloudy or clear, but always it was skies and haven't had horizons that ran ahead of you forever when you sword. Yet hear he was, spelling the pasture, kept slow for fear of being seen."

I am so happy for Uncle Einar though I wish the story had ended more believable for what had happened to him in the story. Then again, reading it directly after "The Homecoming," Bradbury needed a happy ending!

"The Homecoming" is one of the saddest and sweetest short-stories I have ever read. A family of vampires should always be a family - caring for one another and unconditionally loving and accepting each other.
