Nowadays we take it for granted that those in charge of protocol know what to do when a monarch visits, but this was the first time a reigning king of England ever visited the U.S. How to treat him was given a great deal of thought and planning.

This is a very interesting book with the hot-dog summit between FDR and the King of England as the focal point. The author mentions that the present thinking is that FDR did not contract polio but, rather, another rare disease. This is the first time I have ever head that.
