I wonder why Sherlock Holmes is giving himself a shot. The shot was called a "hypodermic syringe". Holmes didn't cringe at all he just gave himself the shot and sat down with a "satisfied sigh". This confuses me. why does he do this to himself? He supposedly does this three times a month. But why?
