Across the Seine to visit Shakepeare and Co, where they were playing Thelonious Monk.Books everywhere, and I foolishly resisted temptation.
Bought some Zizek.
Photos to come.
Back to the Right Bank for a second visit to the Louvre, mainly to see a sculpture by Canova called "Psyche Revived by Cupid's Kiss".It's my new favourite sculpture.

The myth upon which the sculpture is based is described here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cupid_an...

Cupid is variously described as Amour or Eros.
"Antonio Canova's sculpture Psyche Revived by Cupid's Kiss, first commissioned in 1787 by Colonel John Campbell.[1] , exemplifies the Neoclassical devotion to love and emotion. It represents the god Cupid in the height of love and tenderness, immediately after awakening the lifeless Psyche with a kiss, a scene excerpted from Lucius Apuleius' The Golden Ass.[2] A masterpiece of its period, it appeals to the senses of sight and touch, yet simultaneously alludes to the Romantic interest in emotion co-existing with Neoclassicism."

For They Know Not What They Do
Now I have to work out how to get my book purchases home. And at what expense!
BTW, they were significantly cheaper than Australian prices (not taking into account freight or excess luggage), but more expensive than The Book Depository.
Still they have a Shakespeare and Co stamp on them.

I've had to resort to my old Nokia unsmart phone, while the battery on my HTC smartphone plays up.
Needless to say, I'm under pressure from my scornful family to embrace an iPhone.

Here are the Proust bedroom shots:
