OK, I'm about to start my next meganovel. I think I missed the boat on W&M, and I don't have a copy at the moment. So it's either going to be Vollmann's The Royal Family, Pynchon's Against the Day, or Paul Verhaeghen's Omega Minor. What say ye?

Nathan "N.R." Gaddis The W&M boat will be sailing for times to come. Meanwhile, I'd vote Against the Day as a more than adequate surrogate. I don't think anyone's reading that one at the moment. And it needs the noise, but comes with a guarantee. Omega Minor, of course, is still in the early stages of its reception so could use some attention. The Royal Family will always be there and will always have your back.

MJ Nicholls I can only vote for Omega Minor. But it would be nice to see more Vollmann reviews popping up in my thread. He really ain't that popular round these parts.

Jonfaith I would suggest Royal Family but found myself swayed by Nathan's dulcet purring. Go for the Pynchon.

But if that's what you want, you'll want to visit some of Vollmann's whores. I think there's at least one here on goodreads.

Jonfaith Sailor, are you calling my name?

Drew Crazy: seven distinct opinions in three comments. And a distinction between what you really think I should read versus what needs more reviews in two of them! What am I to think?

I should have expected it though; I deliberately tried to make an even trilemma.

I'm not a very good voter. "All three" is clearly the answer, but that ain't helpful in the short term.

Case closed. Against the Day.
