The setting of my novel is current day, and it takes place mainly in Evan's room, Connor Murphys house, and at Evan's high school. Evan is surrounded by a ton of teenagers that always judge his every move. He also, ends up having a huge online presence with the Connor Project. He ends up being under a lot of pressure with all the people leaning on him for mental support and comfort. He is becoming excepted in public.

Evan Hansen is very shy. He is constantly nervous, and rarely talks to people. Evan always imagines the worst of the worst and just waits for it to happen. He describes himself this way in the book, but the description also shows characteristics of a nervous person. His hands are always sweaty, he is diagnosed with social anxiety and so many other things. He is also very intelligent. Instead of friends, he has trees.

I chose to read this book because I have been obsessed with the Dear Evan Hansen soundtrack for a year or more. My mom gave me this book for Christmas and I was so happy she did! I also had the privilege of seeing the show live recently and that got me really interested to read the book. So far, I absolutely love the book and I can't stop reading it. The book has lived up to my expectations and even exceeded them!
