A whole ton of pre-2014 data loaded for your compare books pleasure. Ratings get scarcer as you go back, since I just had titles and month/year read before I started GR in 2011. Some ratings may be impressions of what I thought at the time, and may not reflect current me's opinion were I to read it again of course.

I love the Compare Books function, so had to go check it out. GR thinks we're 75% compatible for books we've both read...

Yeah, it's great. The import generally seems to have lowered my match score on most friends, I think mostly because of a few where I seem to be an outlier. But seriously who could actually like 1984?
I'm repeatedly amazed by what people like -- and dislike.
I'm pretty sure it was 1984 when I read 1984 and I can feel all the loathing come back every time I see a copy. I think mindset and timing are huge. I'm pretty sure assigned reading in school makes more people into non-readers than into readers.
Totally agree with you about assigned reading.
