I'm kind of having trouble following this and I can't put my finger on why, because there's nothing overtly complicated happening. I think it's mostly that there seem to be so many mysteries going on. The overall result, though, is that we're a third of the way in and it still feels a bit like I'm waiting for the plot to really get going.
